Panic Attacks Be Gone!

Fear of Flying

It’s interesting how some fears will piggyback on top of others till people no longer remember where it all came from, and the fear turns into a major and debilitating panic disorder!
Once I had a friend who lived on the Gold Coast, and she told me that she had had panic attacks and a major phobia around flying for many years, yet had never had any incident with flying that she could recall. It got so bad she would have to take Valium and get drunk to get on a plane. Then her 2 kids moved overseas and the previous year, Sue had to send her husband overseas to visit them for a holiday without her, because she just couldn’t get on the flight and had gone into a complete meltdown at the prospect of it all.
I have worked with hundreds of clients with fears and phobias, but each. Awe is different. One client who also had a fear of flying rang me from Sydney Airport and she and her has an were about to board a plane to Rome, but she went into a panic attack and rang me in despair. We had dove some of the work but she hadn’t made her last appointment, so I asked her to find a quiet place she could relax in, and get her husband to keep watch so she wouldn’t be disturbed for a few minutes, while we did a quick 20 minute session over the phone. Needless to say an hour later she was on the flight and messaged me after touchdown. This was easy as we had done most of the work beforehand, but as I said, every session and every client has a unique story!
A couple of weeks after my conversation with Sue, her husband drove her all the way to Dubbo for an appointment as she didn’t want to use an online platform, and couldn’t fly, and just needed to be in a familiar and safe environment.
I asked Sue what thoughts had gone through her head when they closed the door or the plane, the last time she had flown, years before. Her words for me were a key: “I’m trapped, there’s no escape” was the reply. I’m often pretty intuitive and an image popped into my head of her being kidnapped or grabbed when young, so without wanting to preempt or put words into her mouth, I casually asked her if anyone had ever locked her in a cupboard or a room etc, and she laughed and said “of course not!” But I know not to trust the conscious mind in these situations, as it’s only about 5% of her mind, but that’s not usually where the answers are to be found when it comes to emotional conditions such as fear, anxiety or panic, it’s almost always in the subconscious. So I didn’t dismiss my hunch, but kept it in the back of my mind as we did the work. Sometimes the subconscious will block things out in order to protect us from harmful memories until we are able to deal with them, so I just said “well let’s see what your subconscious has to say”, and we began our session.

Normally I would not do age regression on a first session as it sometimes takes time for clients to get to know me or trust the process to go deep enough for us to retrieve information, but Sue had travelled such a long way, and because she already knew me and I had spoken to her about the power of hypnosis over the phone, so she trusted me and was able to go deep enough for us to find the answers to the puzzle, and use her emotions as a bridge back to the cause of her panic so we could neutralise it. Using the advanced techniques that I use is just like pulling switches out of the switchboard, so that once the trigger is neutralised, people are able to experience the thing they were afraid of, without the emotional reaction. It often works like magic!

In our session Sue’s subconscious took us back to a time when she was 4 years old and her twin siblings were born. Her parents sent her to school early at the age of 4, and Sue had to walk to and from school alone as a little girl. During the session while walking to school one morning, she said that her neighbour had grabbed her, and pulled her into his home. For a few brief moments she experienced that panic and was calling out “let me out, let me out!” I instructed her to move beyond the event till everything had calmed down, and I asked her what had happened. “He opens the door, I run home to mum and mum and dad call the police and the policeman came and got the man.” Then she exclaimed “nothing happened to me, nothing happened, I’m OK!” We then tracked through all the subsequent stimulating events “SSE’s” and undid all the other events which had eventually manifested as a fear of flying. Interestingly Sue said that she had never remembered the even while trying to work it out with her counsellor or psychologist, but had a brief picture in her mind of the policeman holding the neighbour and taking him away. After we cleared the emotions, I got Sue to visualise or imagine a future scenario where she went on a flight, easily going through any turbulence and arriving safely at her destination. She did this easily and said there was nothing but a feeling of calmness.

As a result of our one session, Sue flew home the next day without a hitch while her poor husband had to drive the distance on his own, but neither of them minded, as it meant they were finally free of the debilitating panic that had held Sue prisoner for years, and they reported that the next holiday to visit their kids overseas was a breeze. Such is the power of 5-PATH Hypnosis. That’s why I love this work!

Fear of Elevators

I often find I get a run on things, so if I have one client come in with a condition, there will be several more with the same type of issue within a short period of time.

About the same time that I had my friend Sue come to see me with a fear of flying, I had a man phone me with a fear of elevators!

Now elevators are not a common thing in Dubbo, but I know that one fear can piggyback onto another so I’m always curious to find the answers to the puzzles. When Stephen rang me we joked, and I said “well you’re lucky that there aren’t many elevators in Dubbo”. He replied “yes, but I’ve got a new job in Sydney in a high rise building and if I can’t get over my fear, I just won’t be able to take the job”. So I told him that he’d better come in to see me, and as it happened I’d had a rescheduled appointment the next day so there was a vacancy made by the Universe, just for him!
The subconscious mind has all the answers. Even if we think we know when something started, the conscious mind is often mistaken, and the knowledge isn’t enough to make the change and release the problem. You see it’s not what you “think” that changes emotional responses to stimuli, but what you “feel”. Feelings and emotions are the secret language of the subconscious mind which is about 95%, so the conscious mind (5%) is never going to win. This is why you can’t talk yourself out of a panic attack. Those 2 parts of the brain don’t really communicate directly, so you’ve got to work with the right part of the mind when dealing with emotions, fears, phobias and panic attacks, if you want to get rapid change.

Our first session set the stage and taught him how easy it was to go into hypnosis. Stephen had never been trapped in an elevator and couldn’t for the life of him think of why he was afraid and would break out in a sweat every time he had to go in an elevator, till he found it almost impossible to step into one, let alone go up a few storeys. It didn’t make sense to him, but of course, fears don’t have to be rational. They are about the fight/flight response, so you act fast if you’re being chased by a hungry lion, rather than stopping to think about it, It’s about keeping you SAFE!

In our second session we used age regression and tracked Stephen’s fear back in time to when he was a 4 year old little boy. He was bailed up in a corner by a ferocious German Shepherd dog and was in an extreme state of fight or flight, with no escape in sight. You see it wasn’t a fear of elevators at all, it was a fear of being trapped, similar to my friend Sue with her fear of flying, when at the same age of 4 she was grabbed by a neighbour.

That feeling of being trapped with no escape can be responsible for many different versions of panic attacks such as fear of flying, crowds, claustrophobia, agoraphobia and a host of other phobias, and 5-PATH hypnosis is always the fastest way through. Age regression is a magic key that opens doors!

Once we cleared Stephen’s fear of being trapped, he left my office and ran down to Myers and had several trips up and down the elevator until he started to laugh and enjoy the ride, just like kids do when they first have a magical ride in an elevator.

At last report Stephen was loving his new job in Sydney and using his elevator time to set his mind up for a positive day at the office.
