Your Questions Answered!
If you’ve ever wondered whether you could do this work, these are the questions people ask me most.
How long does it take to become a hypnotherapist?
It depends on the training. Online courses can be finished in a few weeks. Diplomas can take a year or more. My own training is ten days, in two five-day blocks a month apart, so you have time to practise between them.
How much does hypnotherapy training cost?
In Australia it ranges from a few hundred dollars for online certificates to many thousands for diplomas. My training is $2,000 for Block 1 and $2,200 for Block 2. Whatever you choose, ask what is included, whether you’ll work with real clients or only practise on other students, and whether you receive full manuals.
Do I need a health or counselling background?
No. Many of my students come from nursing, counselling, Reiki and bodywork, but others are changing careers or simply want to understand how change works. What matters is that you like people and are willing to practise.
Can I work as a hypnotherapist afterwards?
Hypnotherapy isn’t government regulated in Australia, so the professional association you join matters. Each one sets its own training hour requirements, so check them before you enrol, with any provider, including me. My training teaches practical skills and works well alongside existing qualifications.
What makes a good hypnotherapy course?
Small groups, a trainer who still sees clients, and plenty of supervised practice. Scripts are useful, but understanding why a session works matters more.
